Most obvious thing to do would be to start from the beginning (It was a cold winter’s night in 1970 when…) but that would probably bore you to death. This is the short version on how I got to paint…
Simply put, I wanted a Superman T-shirt (This was 1990, I was a student). And I could not find any. So I decided (as a good Capricorn is supposed to do) stubbornly to make one myself. I bought a white T-shirt and special paint and just started. Then I made more…
For one of my classes at university, my group had to make a presentation on Pop Art in the USA. Rather than choosing the obvious (Andy Warhol, d’uh…), we decided on Roy Lichtenstein. The four of us would wear t-shirts with his paintings, but I decided I would wear a design of my own. The professor commented on that as he said: “I have not ever seen that Lichtenstein before…” When I said it was my design, he said I should consider pursuing painting.
So, when then my parents asked me what I wanted to have once graduated, we decided that they would give me the means to paint. I built an easel and bought the materials for the first canvas to paint. It would be a Superman again. It was to be a tumultuous period, but I am happy they gave me the opportunity…
Since then I have painted more of them. Most I kept, others I gave as presents or sold. Some have been made on commission. Due to work engagements, I had to stop painting for a while, but hope that now I have the space and freedom to do what I really like to do…:
Paint
